Super Kmart is a bit of a drive for me, but since I was in that part of town picking up a few deals at Costco, I decided to go for it. They were out of a few of the items that I would have liked to get, but this wasn’t a bad haul overall. Had I not bought the two frozen pizzas ($3 each after Q) the total would only have been $2 and some change. Yup. $2 for: two packages of Nestlé Toll House cookie dough, 2 bags of Hershey’s Special Dark Kisses, 4 L’oreal eyeshadows, 2 cans of Endust, 3 bags of Luden’s cough drops, 2 packs of deluxe cotton swabs, 1 Hormel Compleats (that my teenage boys love), and a 24-caplet bottle of extra strength Tylenol.
I had a $5/$50 coupon from Kmart, but since I realized I wasn’t going to use it I gave it to a lady who was shopping for a few little girls.
I love sharing coupons with folks. Sure beats letting them expire.
On that note, I am gathering expired coupons to send to a Navy base in Japan. They are allowed to use manufacturers coupons up to 6 months after they expire overseas.

Not bad for $8! If you leave off the 2 pizzas, it would have only been $2.

Hi Shanna,
I get most of my coupons from the Sunday newspaper. I get 2 copies delivered and get as many additional copies of the coupon inserts from my neighbors as I can.
I also use some internet printables (IPs), mostly from coupons.com and directly from manufacturers sites. I’m usually slow on the uptake on the IPs, since I’ve got only so much time to spend looking for and printing them–frequently by the time I read about a great IP coupon it’s no longer being offered. Plus, some stores don’t take IPs, or won’t multiply them. There are other coupon sites that don’t require you to take surveys, though I’m drawing a blank on them right now.
As far as getting started, I recommend you go to CouponMom and download her lessons. You do have to register, but it’s free and you won’t get spammed. She has GREAT, free resources on her site. I also really like Hot Coupon World, since it seems to cover more of the stores in my area. There are also lots of lessons on that site.
How to organize your coupons is another consideration. I’m horrible at filing. I hate it. So I don’t clip my coupons until I need them. I simply file the newspaper inserts by date in a box with hanging folders. I can handle that. Then when I get a list that says 1/18 SS, I just go to the 1/18 folder and pull out the Smart Source inserts. I do have to file my loose coupons, so I have shoebox for that with cardboard dividers. I file those alphabetically, but many people file them by category.
BTW the loose coupons are coupons I clipped but didn’t use for some reason, or they came from other source: magazines, blinkies, peelies, wine tags, trades, or I bought them on ebay or a clipping source. It might seem odd to buy coupons, but usually one or two of the coupons will more than pay for the whole purchase.
Anyway, I make a list from internet sources, clip my coupons and go to the store with a very specific list. The drawback to this method is that if I happen upon a great sale, I don’t have my large stash of coupons with me. At this point I’m willing to live with that.
Good luck to you!
